Disposable Heroes published by Iron
Ivan Games Scenario: A platoon of US infantry assaulting Germans in a built up area. Forces:
US: 1 x Pl of infantry with HQ The Battle:
Turn Two: The Germans won initiative and began shooting. The heroic panzershreck team shot at a Sherman that had moved a little to far and managed to destroy it. A half squad of US infantry was cut to ribbons as they were caught short of cover and had to retreat. The US tried to destroy the Germans with there overwhelming firepower, but only caused a few casualties. The casualties were, however in the German half squad defending up front causing them to fall back to the main floor of the building.
Turn Three: At the center, the US had the initiative and assaulted the Germans in the central building. The Germans, down to only four men, destroyed the first half squad sent against them at a cost of two men. A second smaller US squad was sent in and almost got wiped out as well, but managed to kill the Germans leaving only two men. The other Germans did manage to destroy the Bazooka team and cause a few casualties to the HQ. On the right flank, the US continued to advanced behind the cover of a Sherman, which blasted away at the HMG team causing a casualty.
Turn Four: On the right flank, the Germans caused a few casualties forcing the US infantry to fall back into cover, but in turn, the HMG team was destroyed leaving a US objective open. In the center, the US continued to try to kill from a distance with infantry, mortar and the Sherman but caused very little damage. The Germans did manage to reduce the HQ squad down to the Lt who then retreated out of sight. On the left flank, the US moved into a wooden building blasting away at a German squad attempting the same thing. Needless to say, only two Germans survived. Turn Five: On the left flank, the two remaining German troops seeing a US Lt, moved to shoot him down. They successfully completed the task at the cost of their lives but caused morale issues for the US for the rest of the game. In the center, except for a rash charge by the two US troops, who incidentally were cut down by the Panzershreck team, US and German troops traded fire causing very little casualties. On the right, the German HQ moved into the the US objective and continued to pour fire ineffectively into the oncoming US squad. Turn Six: The US occupied the objective on the left flank unopposed. The Germans tried to shoot them but failed to kill any. At the center, the Germans managed to hold the objective with no troubles. On the right flank, the Sherman blasted away at the remains of the HQ squad in the building but failed to cause a casualty or make them run. The only remaining US squad attempted to assault, but were cut down before they could move a step, thus assuring a German Victory.
